Nina's Department & Variety Store
Nina's is a historic department store and a unique setting for contemporary clothing and gifts. Family owned and operated for four generations, Nina's Department and Variety Store has delighted residents and visitors since 1916 with its amazing eclectic mix of clothing, gifts and essentials for the home.
Built in 1911 by the Cohen brothers as a department store, the two-story red brick building with distinctive cornice work was purchased by Harris Marcus whose family has continuously operated the store for 94 years.
Current owners Joel Marcus and Judy Swartz Marcus received the Sauk County Historical Society's Historic Preservation Award in 2002 for restoring the building's facade to its 1920s vintage splendor and earning the building a Sauk County Historical Site designation.
While the ambiance evokes a warm sense of nostalgia, the merchandise reflects the latest in contemporary trends. You will find a large selection of Woolrich and other brand name clothing for men and women and specialty departments featuring gifts, toys, cards and housewares.
Tucked into its own alcove at the back of the store is a complete yarn shop featuring natural fibers, books (including those by owner Judith L. Swartz) and knitting and crochet accessories.
Displays and merchandise constantly change, reflecting the seasons and holidays. Nina's is a perennial favorite with tourists visiting the Spring Green area.
